The integration of Augmented and Virtual Reality in training opens up entirely new dimensions for participants, allowing them to seamlessly combine theory and practice. This makes learning a unique experience. Immersive training elevates the quality of skill transfer to a completely new level. Additionally, virtual training offers the advantage that it does not necessarily require an instructor to be present on-site.
VR and AR applications offer entirely new possibilities for the introduction to equipment handling or commissioning and are received extremely positively by participants. Learning in a realistic environment proves to be significantly more effective, and XR training can adapt to the individual pace of users. They also provide much more flexibility, as they are usually location-independent and often do not even require the presence of a trainer. In particular, VR training offers the great advantage that it can realistically simulate hazardous situations or particularly resource-intensive scenarios.
When the commissioning of devices is supported by augmented reality, it is not strictly necessary for an expert to be on-site. The user is gently guided through the process step by step, allowing them to maintain their individual pace. By confirming each step, it is ensured that no detail is overlooked.
An AR training enhances the view of a real object, enables interaction, and provides a realistic environment. This allows the user to be optimally prepared for a situation under realistic working conditions, and mistakes are avoided in advance. An AR training can be easily repeated, can be conducted without a trainer, and additionally offers high flexibility regarding the environment and individual learning pace.
In a fully virtual training, even complex or hazardous situations can be realistically simulated. Since all necessary equipment and machines are digitally available as duplicates, there is no need for additional physical equipment, thus eliminating costs for wear and tear or additional resource consumption. Pure VR applications are also characterized by their location independence and can be conducted without a trainer. The simulation of processes and workflows enables effective and sustainable learning at an individual pace.
There are situations where not just one person, but two or more individuals need to participate in training together. This not only enables interaction with objects but also provides the opportunity to collaborate with other participants and tackle tasks together. This type of team training is particularly beneficial in the area of soft skills.
